Oscar Bangladesh Committee Invites Film Submissions for the 99th Academy Awards’ ‘International Feature Film’ Category

The Oscar Committee Bangladesh is officially inviting submissions from Bangladeshi filmmakers, in order to select the country’s official entry for the ‘International Feature Film’ category at the 99th Academy Awards (Oscars).

Interested producers and directors are requested to complete the application process by filling out the designated online form and submitting all required documentation by Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Key Rules and Eligibility Criteria: In accordance with the guidelines set by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) for the 99th Academy Awards, submitting films must comply with the following criteria:

1. Format & Duration: The film must be a feature-length motion picture (over 40 minutes). Feature-length narrative, animated, and documentary films are all eligible for submission.
2. Language & Subtitles: Over 50% of the film’s original dialogue track must be in a Bangladeshi language. Accurate and clearly legible English subtitles are mandatory.
3. Theatrical Release: The film must be commercially released in a commercial theater in Bangladesh for at least seven consecutive days between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026.
4. Exclusivity Restrictions: Films that were publicly exhibited or distributed on any non-theatrical platform (such as television, pay-per-view, OTT/streaming, DVD, in-flight entertainment, or the internet) prior to their commercial theatrical release will be deemed ineligible.
5. Creative Control: The primary creative control of the submitted film must rest with citizens or permanent residents of Bangladesh.

Note: Any submission containing inaccurate or incomplete information, or violating Academy rules, may lead to immediate disqualification. The Jury Board’s official decision will be announced on September 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Hotel Sonargaon, Dhaka.
