Announcement of the selection of a Bangladeshi film for submission to the 97th Academy Awards (Oscars) International Feature Film Award (IFFA) category.

Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies (BFFS) has taken the initiative to participate in the Academy Award (Oscar) International Feature Film Award Competition like every year. For this purpose, a committee of 06 (six) members was formed for the selection of eligible films.

The 97th Oscar Bangladesh Committee invited Bangladeshi films to be nominated in the "International Feature Film Awards" category. However, the condition was that any Bangladeshi feature film released after 01 November 2023 and before 30 September 2024 will be able to participate in the selection process that are being commercially shown continuously for 7 (seven) days in the theaters of Bangladesh or any country other than the United States. The deadline for the submissions was 5 p.m. on Sept. 21, 2024. This year, Piplu R Khan's film 'Boli (The Wrestler)' directed by Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury took part in the selection process. 

The Oscar Bangladesh Selection Committee nominated Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury's film  'Boli (The Wrestler)' to represent Bangladesh at the 97th Oscar under International Feature Film Awards category.

৯৭ তম একাডেমী এ্যাওয়ার্ড (অস্কার) ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফিচার ফিল্ম প্রতিযোগিতায় বাংলাদেশের চলচ্চিত্র মনোনয়ন ঘোষনা।

প্রতিবছরের মতো এবারো একাডেমী এ্যাওয়ার্ড (অস্কার) ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফিচার ফিল্ম প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশগ্রহনের উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ ফেডারেশন অফ ফিল্ম সোসাইটিজ। এ লক্ষে ছবি বাছাই এর জন্য ০৬ (ছয়) সদস্য বিশিষ্ট কমিটি গঠন করা হয়।

৯৭তম অস্কার বাংলাদেশ কমিটি “ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফিচার ফিল্ম এওয়ার্ড” (বিদেশী ভাষা প্রতিযোগিতা) বিভাগে বাংলাদেশের ছবি মনোনয়নের জন্য বাংলা ভাষায় নির্মিত বাংলাদেশী চলচ্চিত্র আহ্বান করেছিল। তবে শর্ত ছিল যে, বাংলাদেশী যেকোনো পূর্ণদৈর্ঘ্য চলচ্চিত্র যা ০১ নভেম্বর ২০২৩-এর পর এবং ৩০ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৪-এর আগে মুক্তি পেয়ে বাংলাদেশের অথবা যুক্তরাষ্ট্র-ব্যতীত অন্যকোন দেশের প্রেক্ষাগৃহে ধারাবাহিকভাবে ৭ (সাত) দিন বাণিজ্যিকভাবে প্রদর্শিত হচ্ছে বা হয়েছে এমন ইংরেজি সাব-টাইটেলসহ চলচ্চিত্র বাছাই প্রক্রিয়ায় অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারবে। গত ২১ সেপ্টেম্বর বিকাল ৫ টায় ছিল ছবি জমা দেওয়ার শেষ সময়। এ বছর বাছাই প্রক্রিয়ায় পিপলু আর খান প্রযোজিত ইকবাল হোসাইন চৌধুরী পরিচালিত “বলি (The Wrestler)” চলচ্চিত্রটি অংশগ্রহন করে।

বাংলাদেশ ফেডারেশন অফ ফিল্ম সোসাাইটিজের উদ্যোগে গঠিত চলচ্চিত্র বাছাই কমিটি আজ ০১ অক্টোবর সন্ধ্যা ৭ টায় ঢাকা বিশ^বিদ্যালয় টিভি, ফিল্ম এন্ড ফটোগ্রাফি বিভাগের কনফারেন্স কক্ষে অনুষ্ঠিত সভায় ৯৭ তম অস্কার ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফিচার ফিল্ম পুরস্কার প্রতিযোগিতায় বাংলাদেশের প্রতিনিধিত্ব করার জন্য পিপলু আর খান প্রযোজিত ইকবাল হোসাইন চৌধুরী পরিচালিত “বলি (The Wrestler)” চলচ্চিত্রটি মনোনীত করে।

বাছাই প্রক্রিয়ায় অংশগ্রহন করার জন্য ছবির প্রযোজক, পরিচালকসহ সংশ্লিষ্ট সকলের জন্য রইলো আমাদের শুভকামনা।
